Josh Hamilton Signs Two-Year Deal with Rangers, Avoids Arbitration

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/texas-rangers/he

I think this is a very good move for the Rangers locking up Hamilton for the next 2-years for a very reasonable $12 million per season.

Young and the Rangers seem destined for an unhappy marriage in 2011 as more and more teams fall off the list of possible trade destinations.

Jered Weaver Loses Salary Arbitration Hearing to Angels

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2011/02/angels-pitcher-

I was wrong on this one. I really thought Weaver had posted numbers that would convince the arbiter his $8.8 million request was justified.

Cleveland Indians Reportedly Interested in Signing Jeremy Bonderman

February 1, 2011

Jordan Bastian of MLB.com is reporting the Indians are interested in signing Jeremy Bonderman.

http://twitter.com/#!/MLBastian/status/32626107073167360

It’s hard to believe that Bonderman is just 28 years old. He had a poor 2010 season after being plagued by injuries in 2008 and 2009. At this point in his career he will likely be trying to earn a spot in middle relief or fifth spot in a rotation if he can get back to pre 2007 form.

Indians Sign Austin Kearns to 1 Year 1.3 Million Deal

December 20, 2010

Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports the Indians have signed Austion Kearns to a 1 year deal. Deal is reported to be 1.3 million plus incentives.

Kearns has never developed into the player many thought he would. He will likely fall into the role of a 4th outfielder unless he can earn more playing time.

RIP Bob Feller 1918-2010

December 15, 2010

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Hall of Famer Bob Feller has died this evening in Cleveland.

Feller won 266 games in his career for the Indians despite losing four prime years serving in the United States Navy. He was the only pitcher to throw a no-hitter on opening day.

Feller was the first Major Leaguer to enlist in the military following the attack at Pearl Harbor enlisting the next day. Feller served in The United States Navy as a Gun Captain aboard the USS Alabama. Feller earned five campaign ribbons and eight battle stars for his military service.

Feller was one of the most outspoken critics of Pete Rose and staunchly opposed ever enshrining Rose in The Hall of Fame.
