Josh Hamilton Signs Two-Year Deal with Rangers, Avoids Arbitration

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/texas-rangers/he

I think this is a very good move for the Rangers locking up Hamilton for the next 2-years for a very reasonable $12 million per season.

Mariners Unlikely for Destination for Michael Young.

Young and the Rangers seem destined for an unhappy marriage in 2011 as more and more teams fall off the list of possible trade destinations.

Jered Weaver Loses Salary Arbitration Hearing to Angels

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2011/02/angels-pitcher-

I was wrong on this one. I really thought Weaver had posted numbers that would convince the arbiter his $8.8 million request was justified.

Mariners Say No Thanks to Yankees on Felix Hernandez

December 16, 2010
Jon Heyman is reporting the Yankees called the Mariners asking about the availability of Felix Hernandez but were told Felix is not available. The Yankees are obviously desperate for a top of the line starting pitcher after having Cliff Lee sign with the Phillies. One has to wonder what type of package the Yankees would have been willing to offer for King Felix? You would have to think Jesus Montero would be in any offer.

Jack Cust signs 1 year 2.5 Million Deal with Mariners

December 10, 2010

MLB network is reporting Jack Cust has signed a 1 year 2.5 million deal with the Mariners. The hope is Cust will become their primary designated hitter. Cust had 13 Hr and 52 RBIs in only 349 at bats for the Athletics last season. If Cust can get 400+ at bats in 2011 this would seem to be a good value signing for the Mariners.
