Nationals and Orioles Looking at LaRoche and Lee?

December 16, 2010

It has been widely reported Lee would be willing to accept a one year deal as he tries to bounce back from thumb problems he suffered in 2010

LaRoche has been a consistent 25 HR 85 RBI guy the past 5 years for mostly bad teams. He declined arbitration from the Diamondbacks and is likely to want a longer deal for more money.

Nationals Interested in Derek Lee?

December 12, 2010

MLB.com is reporting the Nationals have expressed interest in signing Derek Lee. Lee said he expects to come to Spring Training at 100%. If that happens a typical Lee season of 20 HRs and 80+ RBIs is likely. The Nationals are also said to have expressed interest in Adam LaRoche. Rumor is LaRoche is looking for around 10 million per season. Both Lee and LaRoche would probably command similar salaries but LaRoche is 4 years younger and would probably be more motivated to hold out for a longer term deal.

White Sox Sign Adam Dunn to 4 Year 56 Million Dollar Deal

December 3, 2010

The deal is scheduled to be announced Friday. On the plus side Dunn routinely puts up around 35-40 homes and 100 RBI each season and has an OBP approaching .400. On this minus side Dunn strikes out around 190 times per season and always seems to end up on non-contending teams. This should be his best chance to be on a contending team. It will be interesting to see how he performs under greater pressure in Chicago.
