Orlando Hudson to Sign with Padres

MLB Network Radio is reporting Orland Hudson will sign with the Padres.An announcement could come later today. Ken Rosenthal is reporting the deal to be for two years 11.5 million pending physical. 

Mets Looking to Acquire Tom Gorzelanny?

Mark J Miller of Yahoo Sports is reporting the Mets have shown interest in acquiring Tom Gorzelanny from the Cubs. Gorzelanny made only 800k last year but is arbitration eligible this off season. He posted a respectable 4.09 ERA last season for an underachieving Cubs team. But his 1.496 WHIP has to be a concern for people considering him in their fantasy leagues in 2011.

Brandon Webb Nearing Decision?

Ed Price at FanHouse is reporting Brandon Webb is nearing a decision about his 2011 plans. Multiple teams are reportedly still in the running including the Cubs, Ranges and Nationals. He has not pitched in the Major’s for almost two years. So put him in the Ben Sheets and Mark Prior category of wait and see for any potential production in 2011.

Yankees to Sign Pedro Feliciano to Two Year Deal

Jon Heyman is reporting the Yankees will sign Pedro Feliciano to a 2 year deal in the 4 million per season range. The Red Sox and Phillies had reportedly showed interest in the former Mets reliever. Feliciano is a decent left handed reliever that should provide depth to the Yankees bullpen

Zack Greinke No Trade List

Jon Paul Morosi of YardBarker is reporting Zack Greinke has a no trade list of 15 teams that includes the Nationals, Yankees and Red Sox. However he could be traded to Rangers, Dodgers or Tigers. 

With Cliff Lee off the board Greinke along with Matt Garza and Carl Pavano are three of the biggest name left for teams looking to acquire a quality starting pitcher via free agency or trade before the 2011 season.

 

Kerry Wood Reportedly will Reportedly Sign with Cubs for 1 Year 1.5 Million

Multiple sources are reporting Kerry Wood has agreed to a 1 year 1.5 million deal with the Cubs. 

Reports say the Yankees offered more so this appears to be Kerry giving the Cubs a hometown discount.

So much for speculation of the Yankees trying to reunite the Cubs 2003 starting rotation by signing Mark Prior and going after Carlos Zambrano and Wood.

Nationals Set to Sign Chien-Ming Wang

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting the Nationals are close to a deal to bring back Chien-Ming Wang on a 1 year deal. Deal is excepted to be announced within the next few days. 

Wang has not pitched since having shoulder surgery on July 30th 2009.

Yankees Deny Interest in Carlos Zambrano

Jon Heyman is reporting the Yankees are denying interest in trading for Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano. Several reports have said the Yankees expressed in Zambrano after losing out on Cliff Lee. 

You have to wonder if this is the end of the Zambrano to Yankees rumors?

Braves and Dan Uggla Close on Extension?

David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting the Braves and Dan Uggla are discussing an extension in the range of 5 years 60 million. 

This is interesting since Uggla reportedly rejected a 4 year 48 million offer with the Marlins and was subsequently traded to the Braves.

If this is true this would seem to be a great deal for the Braves since 30 homer 90 RBI second basemen are a rare commodity.

Nationals to Move Josh Willingham to Athletics?

Numerous reports say the Nationals are shopping Josh Willingham.

Willingham is arbitration eligible and is expected to get a raise from his 4.6 million salary in 2010 to around the 6 million range.

Ken Rosenthal is reporting the Athletics are showing interest in Willingham. The A’s are looking to upgrade their offense and appear to have money to spend after being spurned by Adrian Beltre on the 5 year 64 million dollar deal offered him recently. Stay tuned.
